#Hashtags On Facebook, InstaGram, Twitter & Beyond! The NEW Search Tool!

They're live on Facebook!

They're being spidered, crawled and control search traffic more than ever!

So what on earth is a #hashtag and how do you use it?

Well the #first #thing #you #don't #want #to #do #is #use #it #in #every #word #everytime #you #write #anything! angry That is a major no-no and will turn your entire audience off! Kiss your hard work goodbye if you do that! BIG WARNING! Don't do it!

Ok.. so now that we're passed that, let me give you a few simple tips on how to use hashtags.

Top Hashtag Tips:

#1- – The hashtags you use on Faceook, InstaGram and Twitter used INSIDE of a sentence should flow naturally and be words you want to be connected to.

#2- Don't use #hashtagstosaylongsentencesinsteadofwritingthemout. This looks ridiculous! It's more a fun thing to do but does NOTHING for your marketing.

#3- Look at the TAG CLOUD on your blog! It's created from your blog posts and content. This gives you a good beginning reference point of what to use.

#4- Use 2-4 #hashtags but don't use them EVERYTIME and don't use them excessively.

#5- I DO NOT recommend using #hashtags in your comments on someone else's business page on Facbeook. You'll look like a spammer and look desperate.

#6- Use a variety of #hashtags, but focus on your top 7 and use them weekly.

#7- Put #hashtags on photos, videos and posts. Now that Facebook is using clickable hashtags in posts, comments and feeds, you want to use this for your advantage. But please remember tips 1-6 above.

Big WAKEUP CALL! I don't care if you don't like #hashtags and you are mad at Facebook for rolling them out. The public wanted them and they are popular everywhere. Have a business mind: Facebook will now connect any #hashtag you use on their platform with other places online. NOTE THIS from Facebook's rollout- "Any hashtags that you use on other platforms that are connected to your Facebook Page will be automatically clickable and searchable on Facebook." That is fantastic!!smiley

Here are Facebook's suggestions to take into consideration:

  • If you are already using hashtags in an advertising campaign through other channels, you can amplify these campaigns by including your hashtags in Facebook advertising. The same creative best practices on Facebook still apply – compelling copy and photography that is in the brand voice works best.
  • Any hashtags that you use on other platforms that are connected to your Facebook Page will be automatically clickable and searchable on Facebook.
  • Like other Facebook marketing tools, hashtags allow you to join and drive the conversations happening about your business. We recommend you search for and view real-time public conversations and test strategies to drive those conversations using hashtags.
  • Hashtags do not impact your distribution or engagement in News Feed on either desktop or mobile. We recommend you continue to focus on your existing campaigns to drive your most important business objectives.

Have fun with your #hashtags!
